I was looking for something more raw and authentic: real discussions from real users.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-family: heebo, sans-serif\">That\u2019s when I turned to Reddit.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: heebo, sans-serif\"><b>Why Reddit?<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-family: heebo, sans-serif\">Unlike polished marketing materials, Reddit is filled with unfiltered conversations. It\u2019s where users openly share their frustrations, wish lists, and honest takes on products. Tapping into that collective voice felt like the right way to uncover themes, pain points, and opportunities that wouldn\u2019t surface elsewhere.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: heebo, sans-serif\"><b>Automating the Research<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-family: heebo, sans-serif\">Manually scrolling through endless Reddit threads wasn\u2019t realistic. So I turned to AI to automate the heavy lifting. Using Anthropic\u2019s Claude, I asked it to guide me step-by-step in building a Reddit scraper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-family: heebo, sans-serif\">Claude walked me through everything:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-family: heebo, sans-serif\"><b>Setting up credentials<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in Reddit\u2019s developer portal.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<p><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-family: heebo, sans-serif\"><b>Writing a Python script<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that connected to Reddit\u2019s API.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<p><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-family: heebo, sans-serif\"><b>Automating inputs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, so I could type in a competitor\u2019s name (say, Notion or Asana) and instantly gather every relevant discussion.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[caption id=\"attachment_9004111233701697\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"685\"]<a href=\"http:\/\/reddit.com\/prefs\/apps\"><img class=\"wp-image-9004111233701697 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.startupforstartup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Screenshot-2025-08-31-at-14.28.29.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"685\" height=\"289\" \/><\/a> Click the photo to enter the link from the 2nd point[\/caption]<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-family: heebo, sans-serif\">What I got back was a treasure trove: tens of thousands of conversations about each competitor.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: heebo, sans-serif\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: heebo, sans-serif\"><b>Turning Raw Data Into Insights<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-family: heebo, sans-serif\">Scraping data was just the start. I then fed these files back into Claude, asking it to analyze:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-family: heebo, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What themes dominated conversations?<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<p><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-family: heebo, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Which pain points kept recurring?<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<p><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-family: heebo, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What feature requests surfaced most often?<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<p><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-family: heebo, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How did users talk about AI features \u2014 their expectations vs. their reality?<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\nSuddenly, I had a clear, unbiased snapshot of the market.
