How to maintain focus during long projects? How to get other departments on board with the goal? And what are the necessary sacrifices – and gains – of the decision to focus on just one project for a whole quarter?
In the last quarter of 2020, Dotan, a product lead at monday.com, shared a video during a company meeting. She promised that in three months they will launch a new product on our platform – Gantt. It’s a huge project that was underlined with old and complex code infrastructures and could have easily taken longer than 3 months. This didn’t stop the product team to be so confident in their deadline – that they even gave sales the green light to start selling it.
This week Darya Wertheim speaks with Shirley Baumer, Product Group Manager, and Dotan Egozi, Product Lead at monday.com. They talked about the decision to dedicate an entire quarter to one project and maintain focus through this entire time. They also discuss the best way to approach such a big project, and the challenges that come with it – building trust with the sales department, focusing on a product that already has a lot of competition in the market and keeping a fast execution pace in a complex project.
