1. What is a daily habit you love doing?

I like to start my day with a 15-minute meditation and 45-minute random walk around my neighborhood. Meditation and a good walk help with clearing my mind and prioritizing my tasks for the day. Sometimes, I get my most creative ideas while in physical movement rather than at my desk.

2. What piece of advice would you give yourself when you started? What advice would you ignore?

When it comes to making important decisions, go with your intuition and gut feeling. Also, I would mostly ignore advice that comes from people who are not subject matter experts. Friends and family have common sense and mean well and may have your best interest in mind – yet in most cases, they are not investment professionals nor are experienced in making similar decisions.

3. What piece of content (book/podcast/Ted Talk) is your favorite or has influenced your life?

I like listening to Tim Ferris's podcast, he is both a tech investor, an innovator, and a multifaceted well informed intellectual in many fields. Ferris conducts interviews with known CEOs, entrepreneurs, investors, and other experts from varied disciplines. His way of thinking inspires me and helps with exposure to new fields and ideas.

4. What is the most valuable investment (time, money or energy etc.) that you’ve ever made?

My most valuable investments are in relationships, reputation, and in helping young tech entrepreneurs. Reputation and personal brand are assets that are appreciated in value over time.

5. Is there a quote, mantra or message you live your life by and that you resonate with? It can be someone else's as well.

An investment in knowledge pays the best interest” – by Benjamin Franklin. The deeper your knowledge, the better the investment decisions you make. Thus, entrepreneurs and investors should not be too content with past successes, but rather should always be learning new things and staying up to date.

* Avi Eyal, Co-Founder & Managing Partner at Entrée Capital, also talked about how knowledge and time are the most valuable things for him. Read his column here.

6. What helps you stay motivated on good and hard days?

A “Can do” attitude or “I overcame bigger problems” outlook comes very handy in the most challenging days. Past achievements and a general sense of optimism can be relied upon when solving new problems

7. What are you passionate about other than managing your own company?

Covid-19 forced us to stop running around. We had to stay at home in order to stay safe, and the real priorities in life could be seen more in more clarity. As founders and investors we are usually immersed in making our businesses a success, yet, our homes and families are the reason for everything we do.

8. What have you recently thrown away or released from your life that made a positive impact and why?

I recently gave up on a physical office space and found out that working from home can be very productive and efficient, and that Zoom allows me to interact with more people every day. Also, less driving and commuting means I gain more time for my family and pastimes.

* Shimon, Founder of Climacell, also gained quality time with his loved ones as a result of working from home. Read his article here.

9. Share a failure you have experienced and what you learned from it.

I invested in a startup company that had an attractive valuation and showed good traction, yet they were serving a shrinking market and sales were not growing. The management team failed to pivot to a new niche and eventually, the company was shut down.

The lesson I learned was no matter how great the numbers and the team’s motivation, you just can’t win if you’re not growing, or if you are in a market soon to become obsolete.

10. If you could have anyone in the world answer these questions who would it be and why?

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Professional tennis players’ mental abilities have to be so robust, in order to quickly recover from misses & losses – and keep winning. They hold psychological and mental abilities that allow them to stay on the top for years. Tennis professionals play each game for hours – and are always on their own. The winning or losing in a game depends solely on their ability to make quick decisions, stay focused, and overcome setbacks.
